Exposing the Truth about Halloween: Should Christians Participate?

Purpose: The article below will provide enlightenment into the history of the practice of celebrating halloween world-wide and what God’s Word, the Holy Scriptures, tells us about such practices.  Excerpts from the Encyclopedia Brittanica (online), which has been widely accepted as a reputable source of information with contributions from many scholars preeminent in their fields for generations since its foundation in 1768, will be used as a secular source of information.  The Holy Scriptures will be used to deliver God’s Word and what it reveals concerning participation in this celebration.

What is halloween and where did it come from?  Each person if asked what halloween is, generally has one of two responses: it’s a time to dress up in a costume and have fun at parties or it’s an evil day that no one should participate in.  Most individuals provide the first response and see the celebration as harmless fun; those who have the later response are generally ridiculed by society and called extremists or radicals.  But have you ever truly stopped and asked yourself those questions: What is halloween and where did it come from?  Have you ever taken the time to sit down for five minutes and research the answers for yourself?  With access to the internet that offers hundreds of compilations of articles accessible at your fingertips in the matter of mere seconds, there really isn’t an excuse to not research it for yourself!  But in the interest of time, allow me to supply the information.

Modern day halloween is derived from a Celtic festival known as Samhain.  The Encyclopedia Brittanica states the following:
Halloween had its origins in the festival of Samhain among the Celts of ancient
Britain and Ireland.  On the day corresponding to November 1 on the contemporary calendars, the new year was believed to begin. … During the Samhain festival the souls of those who had died were believed to return to visit their homes, and those who had died during the year were believed to journey to the otherworld.  People set bonfires on hilltops for relighting their hearth fires for the winter and to frighten away evil spirits, and they sometimes wore masks and other disguises to avoid being recognized by the ghosts thought to be present. … The period was also thought to be favorable for divination on matters such as marriage, health, and death.  When the Romans conquered the Celts in the 1st century CE, they added their own festivals of Feralia, commemorating the passing of the dead, and of Pomona, the goddess of the harvest.

In the 7th century CE Pope Boniface IV established All Saints’ Day, originally on May 13, and in the following century, perhaps in an effort to supplant the pagan holiday with a Christian observance, it was moved to November 1.  The evening before All Saint’s Day became a holy, or hallowed, eve and thus Halloween.  By the end of the Middle Ages, the secular and the sacred days had merged.  The Reformation essentially put an end to the religious holiday among Protestants, although in Britain especially, Halloween continued to be celebrated as a secular holiday.  Along with other festivities, the celebration of Halloween was largely forbidden among the early American colonists, although in the 1800s there developed festivals that marked the harvest and incorporated elements of Halloween.  When large numbers of immigrants, including the Irish went to the United States beginning in the mid 19th century, they took their Halloween customs with them and in the 20th century Halloween became one of the principal U.S. holidays, particularly among children.
It then defines Samhain as
Samhain, also spelled Samain, (Celtic “End of Summer”), one of the most important and sinister calendar festivals of the Celtic year.  At Samhain, held on November 1, the world of the gods was believed to be made visible to mankind, and the gods played many tricks on their mortal worshipers; it was a time fraught with danger, charged with fear, and full of supernatural episodes.  Sacrifices and propitiations of every kind were thought to be vital, for without them the Celts believed they could not prevail over the perils of the season or counteract the activities of the deities.  Samhain was an important precursor to Halloween.

Having now taken the time to read about the history of halloween and where it comes from, we need to immediately dive into God’s Word to determine His position on the matter; His requirements of us as Christians.  The Bible provides us many warnings against pagan practices, in which God calls them an abomination.  Practices people are more likely to engage in during the autumn months in the spirit of halloween festivities than during any other time of the year.  Practices people engage in as part of their personal beliefs, in the occult, throughout the year.  Activities that are demonically influenced by Satan himself!  Deuteronomy 18:9-14 is perhaps the single most detailed Scripture that calls out a vast majority of activities practiced during the celebration of halloween, in which the Lord calls them forbidden practices.
When you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations.  There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.  For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord, and because of these abominations the Lord your God drives them out from before you.  You shall be blameless before the Lord your God.  For these nations which you will dispossess listened to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, the Lord your God has not appointed such for you.

It’s hard to believe this Scripture could be interpreted any other way than what it clearly states; in summary, do-not-do-these-things!  Most people are of the opinion that the “customary” activities in celebration of halloween are harmless.  The vast majorities of people do not make sacrifices to deities, hang out in cemeteries, drink blood, conjure up the dead, make potions, cast spells, or any of the other activities perceived as “extreme” or “illicit” in morality.  However, the majority will admit to partaking in activities deemed as socially “acceptable”; dressing up in a costume, carving pumpkins, listening to ghost stories, watching scary movies, going to haunted houses/trails, going trick-or-treating, hosting/attending parties, bonfires, bobbing for apples, séance’s, tarot cards, palm-reading, games such as ouigi, etc.

Let’s take a quick look at some of the socially “acceptable” activities and where they originate.  I challenge you to take time to research where these activities originated for yourself, they are pagan in nature and of Satan; they are not characteristic of God!
  • costumes: the Celts and Druids believed that if they wore masks, animal skins and other disguises, they would not be recognized by the evil spirits who roamed the earth on this day
  • carving pumpkins: various large vegetables/fruits were carved in scary faces and lit with a candle then set on the entryways or in windows of homes to ward off the evil spirits and guide them back to the underworld
  • ghost stories/scary movies/haunted houses/trails: the Celts and Druids lived in extreme fear during the fall and winter months when it was cold and believed it was when death reigned in the world
  • trick-or-treating: born of the belief that if food was not left on the doorstep of homes for the evil spirits as an offering, they would play a trick on the household
  • parties: initially organized as community days here in America in an effort to make the practice more secular than spiritual in nature
  • bonfires: the Celts and Druids light large fires to ward off evil spirits and would make both animal and human sacrifices to them in the hopes they might survive the coming cold months

Although these are ancient practices from long ago, God still recognizes at these practices at their face value; pagan.  Most people believe that just because they do not place the same significance in their participation of these activities as the ancient ones, they are not held accountable.  God sees these practices for what they are; Satanic.  Satan is the source of spirits of divination (encompassing witchcraft/sorcery), unclean spirits, familiar spirits, deceitful spirits, spirit of fear, and many others.  To Him they are not a diluted version of some ancient practice done long ago by a primitive people.  He is omnipresent; at hand in the past, present and future.  Engaging in such activities opens your soul up to more demonic influences to lead you farther away from God.  What might seem “harmless” to us will continue to lead to more dark practices.  We must then ask ourselves, why do we participate and what does God say about our participation in such activities?

When asked why they celebrate halloween most people are going to say something along the lines of this: I grew up celebrating halloween in my parents house and it’s something I look forward to every year.  Sounds like most people celebrate halloween because it’s a tradition in their family!  Merriam-Webster defines tradition as ‘the handing down of information, beliefs, and customs by word of mouth or by example from one generation to another without written instruction’.  Traditions tend to have a deep-rooted, sentimental value to us and it’s hard not to do them, especially when it comes to holiday celebrations.  In the Bible, Jesus spoke of traditions with the Pharisees in Mark 7:5-9 saying this,
‘Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:
These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
                                    They worship me in vain;
their teachings are but rules taught by men.
You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the traditions of men.’
And he said to them: ‘You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions!’
Powerful statement!  God clearly tells us not to engage in these kinds of activities and yet we do because we grew up doing it.  It’s hard to admit that perhaps what we learned from our parents may not be the right thing after all!  We must take a step back from the things we have essentially been taught and ask the Lord to reveal to our hearts His will for our life.  Jeremiah 17:9 says this, ‘The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?’  We must not confuse what we think concerning any thing, with what God thinks and what His Word says!  Control of our emotions on spiritual matters should be enforced and feelings set aside to ensure we are seeing God’s opinion.

Halloween is full of occult practices that the world has put a spin on calling that which God has already defined as evil, “good”.  Isaiah 5:20 speaks to that very statement, ‘Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter’.  Proverbs 14:12 and 16:25 both say, ‘There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.’  What we think doesn’t count in the long scheme of things because only God’s opinion counts!  We must not allow the Devil to confuse us when it comes to God’s Word.  He will try to trip us up every time in the Scriptures.  He is very familiar with the Scriptures.  Remember he enticed Eve into sin by making her second guess what God had told her of fruit of the tree.  We see Satan himself come to tempt Jesus in the desert after He had fasted 40 days by using God’s Word but Jesus corrected him each time and overcame Satan; because-He-knew-God’s-Word!

As Christians we must make every effort to separate ourselves from the practices of the world.  2 Corinthians 6:14-17 says,
Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.  For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common?  Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?  What harmony is there between Christ and Belial?  What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?  What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?  For we are the temple of the living God.  As God has said: ‘I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.  Therefore come out from among them and be a separate people, says the Lord.  Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.  I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.
1 John 1:5-7
God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.  If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
Romans12:2 ‘Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.’  Romans 12:21 ‘Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good’.  This does not mean take halloween and make it “Christian” by dressing up like an angel, Moses, superhero or princess and go to your church’s trunk-or-treat party!  Remember, ‘God is light, in him there is no darkness at all’ 1 John 1:5.  James 4:4 ‘You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God?  Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes and enemy of God.’

We must use the Bible to discern God’s will by studying the Scriptures thoroughly and allow God to minister to our hearts.  God’s opinion of things does not change over time as the opinions of men do.  As Pastor Jay always says, “God is not a respecter of persons”.  He will not tell one person it’s ok to do something and then tell another person not to do that same thing.  He is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33).  Satan is.  The Scriptures will never contradict itself, but support itself from the beginning of the Old Testament to the end of the New Testament.

Some may argue that the Old Testament is no longer relevant however it very much is.  Jesus is actually an Old Testament character!  The Old Testament contains the Law, which is far more detailed and numbered than the consolidated Ten Commandments.  The Ten Commandments were given to us as general rules for conducting our lives.  The full Law was given to us to demonstrate that no one could keep the Law in its entirety.  It was actually an incomplete covenant that had not yet been fulfilled.  Once a year, God required the Jews to sacrifice a pure, spotless lamb as atonement for the sins of the people.  But God promised the fulfillment of the Law through the Lamb of God who would take away the sins of the world.  That spotless lamb was Jesus.  God sent His Son down to earth, in the flesh, to live with His people as a man and never sinned.  Yet His own people received Him not and crucified Him.

If you profess Christianity as a born-again believer, let me remind you that you were bought at a price.  You were bought in the precious blood of Christ Jesus.  You are not your own.  Jesus paid, in flesh and blood, for the salvation He graciously extends to all people.  The precious blood of the Lord ran down the cross as he gave up himself for you.  Jesus fulfilled the mission God gave Him in his life, death and resurrection.  He offers us the gift of salvation.  Do we mock the work the Lord Jesus has done by participating in pagan practices?  Do we continue to undermine Jesus, the Apostles and all others who were martyred to sustain a pure and holy faith?  Do we persist to minimize Jesus’ life, death and resurrection in our rebellion against what God says NOT to do?  If Jesus were standing here right now, would He participate in such things?  The answer is no, so we must ask ourselves why do we?  ‘Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means!’ Romans 6:1,2.

What will you do with the knowledge you now possess?  How will you allow God to minister to your heart for spiritual growth?  Will you allow these truths to pierce your heart and inspire you to seek God’s face for gentle correction or will you dig in your heels and turn a blind eye to the truth that has been presented?  You can no longer say “I didn’t know”.  Hosea 4:7 says ‘my people are destroyed for their lack of knowledge’, in other words, ignorance is not bliss.  Romans 1:18 says,
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.  For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
You are held accountable with the truth presented to you from God’s Word concerning halloween.  Of all the things to invest our time and effort into, our spiritual growth should be the number one priority in our lives.  There is an ongoing spiritual battle for your soul.  Your actions are either influenced by God’s light or Satan’s darkness.  Jesus came to give life, Satan wants only to steal, kill and destroy you (John 10:10).  Who do you allow to lead you in your life?  A Christian will easily be led astray by Satan if they do not intimately know the truth in God’s Word.  Gird yourself in the belt of truth (Ephesians 6:14) and all other pieces of the armor of God so you may withstand the wiles of the Devil.  Study your Bible and ask God to write His Word upon your heart to lead you in your Christian walk with Him as you navigate the orange barrels of life on earth.

So, what is going on in the world today?  Everyone is offended in something – but actually morality is hitting an all time low.  There are constant rumors of riots, people offended at murder – yet – violence is at an all time high!  A young girl was attacked today in a bathroom at school by a large group and died.  Protesters – protesting wrongs, killings and yet use violence to get their cause heard – and we’re listening.  As we are being told of different groups, their rights, and their feelings, babies are being murdered daily.  The fault lies within the church.  The church has been silent pacifists far too long!

We are told nothing can be discussed that can be deemed offensive.  I have a few words about that – Jesus was a controversial figure – that’s why He was murdered!  The apostles as well, because they talked about sin and turning your life to God – not an accepted practice then or now.  But, yet very controversial figures are able to use churches to spout political views, religious if it is an accepted view.

We are told not to judge – that’s not Scripture!  God said the saints would judge.  How can anyone know the truth, if the truth is not presented to them, on Gods terms?  The Ten Commandments are not just reading material – they are used as a common basis for a civilized society.  If as some would want, as many are now trying to do – do what makes them happy or makes them feel like a complete, satisfied human – do we allow molestation of children or anyone for that matter?  Do we allow murder?  Do we allow beatings, do we roam the streets and do whatever, because it makes us ‘happy’?!

God and man have made rules for a productive society – and now these have come under attack.  Basic things.  You use the bathroom of your birth gender – if not – go home, a bathroom with one stall and lock the door.  Illegals are raping women and young girls, here and abroad.  Is this going to become okay, because it makes them ‘happy’??  Should drugs be legalized because getting high is ‘good’ for whoever likes it?  We’re becoming a society of selfish fools, a people who only think of our own agendas and care for no one else.  The conscience of man is becoming wicked, as in the days of Noah.  The police are criticized for not doing their jobs, and then stand trial for taking action.  A person called 911 was afraid someone had a gun in the store was almost charged for inducing panic when the person with the pellet gun was killed.  Be careful calling 911, make sure the gun is real!  People’s actions are blamed on others and not their own.  God holds you accountable, no one else for what you do.  In the end it is you and God!

It all began when stores started to stay open on Sunday’s to make more money.  Someone had to manage the stores so no church.  Then, instead of closing at five, they’re open all night.  Instead of having kids in church, learning right from wrong, schools, coaches and parents have them at the ball field.  Everyone thinks their kids are going to become famous, professional athletes.  Right!  But the guidance they need is not on the ball field – it’s in a godly church that teaches the foundation they will need in life.

Lastly, to the churches.  If God in His Word said it and Jesus taught it, who are you to change it!  Jesus said a man who does not work (not sick or disabled) and take care of his family is not worthy.  God said: homosexuality is wrong and detestable!  It was said in the Old Testament – but God does not change His mind!  Quit worrying about how beautiful the church is, how much money you make and teach the Word of God.  Not your version, His!!  All ungodly, pastors included, will answer to Him!  They are leading followers astray, and the blood of them will be on their heads!  Jesus said love your neighbor and in that He means teach them of Jesus, and repent – turn from your sin, daily following the Word.  But if the wicked keep corrupting for power, money, fame and out of pride, ego and selfish desire, one day they will stand before truth.

As for the believers who stand on the Bible and truth you have been set free!  By the Son of Man – Jesus, His blood sacrifice did the work, now do what He says.  Not popular opinion, because we see in history the right think is not always a popular thing.  We must stand apart from those who are wicked and corrupt the Word of God!  Stand and pick which side you’re on.  The fight has begun and in the end only those who have been redeemed by Jesus and follow His command will forever live!  This earth will pass away.  A politician can’t save you, only Jesus!

The economy is in the tank.  Crime against children has exploded.  Drugs, killings and of course  all evil contrary to Gods word.  But, we do have a reason for hope - it is in the blood of our Savior - Jesus Christ!  Just believe, have faith, ask for forgiveness daily.  He did all the work, just pray and believe.  Live in hope, peace, do not be troubled of this world, because He has overcome the world!  All you need is Jesus!

Matthew 16:21 talks of Jesus, bread, and wine.  In remembrance of ME - telling them to remember His sacrifice.  (On the 3rd day He would arise.)  He spoke in parables.  -"The temple would be torn down but in three days He would rebuild it."

The disciples are commanded several times to spread the good news; the news that Jesus rose and conquered death and the grave.  He Lives!  This causes all who believe and live for Him to have that ability, and will never experience death - in a spiritual sense.  The whole message of Jesus is to live again conquering Satan who is after all to kill, steal, and destroy our physical and spiritual bodies; to separate us from God the Father.  But Jesus by living as a man, never sinning, dying for all who believe as the spotless lamb of God -the perfect sacrifice- and beating death, hell, and the grave by rising again on the resurrection - the 3rd day as He said He would, shows He is who He says.  He told the followers to tell all, to proclaim the good news, so they would have faith, and the truth would be for all who would believe.

Lastly, it’s faith that we have - our faith tells us Jesus is who He says, and we then do and exclaim, and tell as we believe.  Nothing else can do it - just faith believing in HIS work!  His birth, life, and death and mostly His resurrection gives us faith and hope knowing we can have eternal life!  There’s nothing we can do - that would negate His life, death, and resurrection!  The importance of the resurrection is Jesus is alive! - He said to tell all!  If not there would be no point.  Prophets spoke for thousands of years of His special birth, life and death - and all things had to come by scripture for the Jews to believe - they require a sign.  But they always killed their prophets - this is the way of it.  Jesus the second person of the trinity had to come and die to redeem man back to God, because of sin in heaven and then the earth.  Jesus was the only one to do it!  That is our faith, not religion, because we believe in faith (not seeing), and because of the Word of God.  "Go and proclaim the good news to all the world, I have risen!"-Jesus

March 3rd, 2016

We are studying the Book of Acts on Wednesday nights.  Our pastor has asked we do a written study on what it means to be a Biblical Christian today.  As I looked into this I started with the Twelve called by Jesus Himself.  At first they were not followers in the sense as we are too today.  Sure, He called to them and they followed, but physically at first, not spiritually.  This is called the Great Commission, which means to advance God’s kingdom and carry the Gospel (Good News) to the world.  They were the first, but not the only ones.

Peter questioned and then was the first to voice Jesus and His mission as truth.  He became passionate for the cause and as all others, except John, died for it.  Andrew stopped following after John the Baptist and followed Jesus.  John and James were brothers who at one time wanted to use strength to convince others, then changed over time and used love instead.  Philip, as did the others, preached and traveled around to parts of the world never thought of to give the Good News.  Bartholomew heard the words of Jesus and instantly believed and followed Him.  Matthew once a hated tax collector, after experiencing the love and acceptance from Jesus, left all he had and followed Him - giving his life.  Thomas is known for wanting to see Jesus after the resurrection in order to believe, but eventually he died for the cause.  James the less-brother of Jesus, receiving not much mention in the Scripture, was picked by Jesus to follow and first of the Twelve to be martyred.  Simon the zealot was called to follow, not much is known of him except that he left Jesus when he was arrested, tried, beaten and killed.  In fact all abandoned the Lord except for John.  But, they all came back together to give their lives physically, spiritually, and emotionally for the cause of Christ.  They traveled, prayed, and started churches.  Taught and preached what Jesus had given them.  They were fisherman turned to men of God.

Paul was a teacher, man and follower of the law to a “T”.  He became however, the greatest example of what it is to be a biblical Christian.  Once of the world, only to turn to God, believe in the Scriptures and prophesies of the Christ.  He turned completely to the Word of God and believed.  Not only believed, but lived it, wrote it, breathed it.  Daily picking up the cross and continued to spread the God News.  Despite what the world thinks or what they say keep looking forward, believing Jesus and only Jesus in all you do!  We can use them all - the woman of the bible that followed Jesus as well.  But Paul, being the perfect example of one who believed in his mind, but then felt Jesus in his heart and gave in completely, no matter the cost. He had a purpose, a reason to be grateful, and a reason to believe.  If we today have felt that, have been forgiven, if we know we have an advocate in Jesus who is there always pleading for us, a home in heaven, to know we will never die, we will live the biblical standard Jesus set for us.  It is if we truly believe, if not it will eventually show.  Some walked away from the apostles, and even Jesus Himself; so we shall not be surprised if people today simply walk away.

To be a biblical Christian today is no different than 2,000 years ago.  Actually, it should be easier due to technology. But, what Jesus has done, why, or what it means really is no different than when Paul was blinded, and then he saw and understood from that point what it is all about.  It’s about understanding what Jesus did, what God allowed and accepted, and if we allow it in our lives it should urge us to share it with everyone we come in touch with.

We are not perfect, we will stumble, make mistakes, have a bad day but it does not affect how our relationship with our Savior.  Do not give up a desire or a willingness to see our friends and loved ones come to the truth, before it is too late.  In the end it’s about being what God sees in us, following the Great Commission, not being deterred, discouraged to give up, and to realize that in the end, the prize is given to the finisher of the race.  If we do what God asks how can we go wrong?  Pray without ceasing, go to church (Bible believing), read the Word, spread the Good News, find your special calling (God has a job for all), never give up or let go of God.  God never is the one who lets go!

And lastly, Judas who started out as one of the 12, was picked by Jesus, learned and lived with the others, was with God in the flesh, but allowed himself with the choices he made to betray and leave the side of Jesus.  For him it was the money, for others it could be anything; family, fame or self.  You don’t want to be remembered as one who was for Jesus and then left and turned away or one who was all about his/herself and not the Mission.  How sad that is!  So, be a follower, a believer, a doer, a prayer warrior.  Stay strong so on the final day of judgment God will say "Welcome good and faithful servant.”  That will be when all will see a biblical Christian!!  And Jesus!

February 1st, 2016

Happy February!  So we already have a lot going on in this month - Israel promises to protect their borders from Hamas who equally promises to liberate the city from Israel.  Politicians are saying who is more Christian - yet those in power have yet to stop a lot of what is Non-Christian.  A group of ladies in Israel are celebrating the murder of a 23 year old Israeli woman stabbed to death by throwing candy in the streets.  One of the ladies celebrating had lost her children in the attack as well, 17 & 22 year olds.  Another Israelite had also been killed earlier in another stabbing. The people who had previously taped conversations with Planned Parenthood faculty, who admitted on camera to selling baby parts, have been indicted by a grand jury for government tampering; a felony for giving fake names to tape the encounter. Meanwhile, the Planned Parenthood faculty were found guilty of a misdemeanor for the selling of baby parts.

Today, we argue about church and state - if you take the view that the church should not be involved in stately matters, that is actually the view of the 1905 Socialist mindset.  We have come from a nation that was built on the concept that government cannot intrude in the church, but that the church can and should be a part of the government.  Hence the Ten Commandments, rules of law that adhere to our Christian and Jewish foundations as a new nation.  As we begin a new year we need to pray for our country, leaders and hope that we as a nation - bow before a Sovereign and Holy God.  Remember this Valentines Day - no one loves you more than God who gave His only Son, and Jesus who did so willingly!!

January 1st, 2016

So, we have another year behind us.  As Christians we should see what events in the last year have unfolded to show the undeniable signs of the Lords return!  There were bakers whose assets were seized by government officials as a fine for refusal to act against their personal religious beliefs; companies who had to spend money to defend the right to not have to pay for abortions (money that could have been spent to help with charitable organizations); preachers and believers jailed, beaten, mocked, ridiculed, tortured, and killed for Jesus; cities and towns banning nativity scenes; colleges banning organizations that want to have discussions and meetings based on their own organizations beliefs; groups who blamed Christian organizations for issues that have nothing to do with the situation.  But it’s a point of evil being called good and good being called evil.  There are serious discussions taking place in the IRS to take tax exemption status from churches.  It seems to a lot out there that all that is wrong with the world is because of GOD, JESUS and followers of them. Jesus said that we would be hated because of Him, mocked, scorned and worse.

Iran made a wonderful deal for them, and this causes issues for the whole Middle East, mostly Israel, and US.  We have been told we are no longer a Christian nation, and well, I can agree with that for the most part.  We had a Supreme Court of man take and declare laws that are totally against the word of God.  We have, in a lot of cases, turned our backs on justice, truth, and the laws of God - which are being taken out of schools, colleges, courthouses, and are the foundation of our nation’s very existence.  All because man knows better and have become full of pride, envy, lusts, jealousy, hate, and corruption.  Pride caused Satan to fall - and we as humans have come pretty far as well in our own pride.  We allow the slaughter of children. Young adults are killing each other, the elderly, homeless and helpless peoples.  But we sat back and say it is not our problem - to sit and do nothing is as bad as actually doing the deed!

We need to pray, we need to be active in our children’s lives, try to get people in church to see them saved before destruction comes and its too late - like in Noah’s time.  We need to be vigilante in our prayer lives, involved in our churches, and pray for this wicked world that all who will - seek and save the lost with our prayers, voices, unyielding to the truth!  TRUTH and the WORD is all we need and have.  In the new year keep on with Faith!

The month of December is to most all the world the celebration of Jesus’ birth.  Not all but some.  Some celebrate family, gifts, time off, etc.  But for the majority I should say of Christians this is the day to celebrate Jesus and His arrival to earth in the flesh.  Now, Jesus first off was never born – exactly - He always has been, since the beginning and will forever be.  But, He did most theologians believe arrive in the fall of the year and was born in the flesh as His work was to begin to reconcile man and God.

Now Jesus Himself said to remember His death - which accomplished the mission - to bring man back to God, since man fell to sin with Adam in the garden.  So we must ask ourselves a few questions.  First, why are we not to remember His birth?  This is because His work for redemption was done on the cross.  It is ok to remember His birth, but the important thing we should celebrate and look to is the work on the cross.  That is what brings us to God.  Next are the headlines making news today: If the Maker of the world came to save us and bring us back to God why are Christians today being persecuted, even here in America?  Well, that is simple - because Jesus said it would happen!  The celebration of His birth has become very worldly.  It is ok to pay tribute to God, we should daily, but we humans always make mistakes.  We give gifts and that is ok, but do we ever give God the glory for the ability to do this?  Give God the praise for our lives and families?  Most people only acknowledge God when something goes wrong.

Christmas is a time when at least most of the world has an idea why we celebrate, so why not use it to our advantage?  Jesus’ birth was critical for us today and Satan tried to have Him killed.  Yes, the Messiah was tracked down shortly after His birth by the kings soldiers to be killed.  But He was sent to Egypt for safety until He was a young child.   Even He was chased, and sought after, all evil tried to find Him.  This will happen to true Christians, because if we speak the truth the world who is ran by the father of this world-satan hates us as he hated Jesus

Be of good cheer because, as much as it hurts, as unfair it is - it is truth and God is truth and if He lives inside you it will happen.  Just be of good faith and cheer and lean on Him for help.  He will never leave or forsake you.  A Christian family from Germany came here to America to flee religious persecution and raise their children in a godly atmosphere but were denied sanctuary and will be returned to their homeland to face the consequences of their actions.  They are being persecuted, like the ones fleeing the Middle East for the same reason, except they worship allah.  Not the true and living God - Jehovah!

Lastly, as we celebrate the arrival of Jesus 2,000 years ago, we need to celebrate His soon return!  The violence is deafening, Christian persecution is climbing, innocent lives are being murdered, wrong is being called right and right is being called wrong.  This does not take God by surprise.  As the shepherds laid in the fields and saw the light of angels praising the arrival of Jesus, someday maybe in our lifetimes (most likely) we will be taken as we see the One who gave Himself, calling all faithful devoted servants who not only answered His call, but stuck through the difficult times and will be given their reward!

Thank God this season and realize He left Heaven to come and be born, chased, tempted, mocked, tortured, and killed for you!  And He knew it all would happen and did it anyway.  That is what we need to remember this holiday season; not if cups are red and say happy holidays, not if we got what we really wanted for Christmas, not if we are allowed to say Merry Christmas (look up the history of all the ideas associated with it).  Think of the innocent child who came to grow up never sinning to save the world of those who would believe.  That is what the celebration of the Messiah is really about!  Keep a watch in the news of all that’s going on - there is a lot to relate to the coming of the KING of KINGS!  He is coming soon!!!!!!!

November 20th, 2015

This month we are going to be having huge dinners, meeting with family and friends, shopping - but why?  Thanksgiving is a time in which we are to share in the joys, prayers, laughter and thankfulness God has bestowed upon us.  We should daily be grateful for what God has allowed us to have.  Daily we should pray and praise the Maker for His gift of life.  Not only our spiritual life, but if we have allowed Jesus into our hearts, our eternal, spiritual life as well.  As Christians we should always be thankful for all of what God has given; our life, our family, friends, jobs, food, shelter, love, joy, peace, and heaven our future home.  In the carnal, non-spiritual realm most of the time at the thanksgiving table all that is talked about is football, black Friday sales, and how much you are stuffed. But let’s remember we need to be thankful for God, country, family, and our salvation - we need to remember that daily!  Happy Thanksgiving!

I have the task of watching current events and relaying these back to our readers.  There are a lot of things going on in the world today - that 20 years ago would be unheard of.  In New York it is now commonplace for "artists" to stand sometimes naked but mostly topless to have their pictures taken with tourists.  Now a lady is taking her very young child out to do the same.  Drugs are becoming legalized, suicide-no matter how you coin it- is now accepted, why we have known for years of abortions - but now we SEE first hand why, how and the $$ trail - and still it goes on.  We see lots of murder, horrible crimes against our children, elderly and law enforcement - so much that it doesn’t make the headlines always.  Russia is now in Syria "helping", as is Iran- and we don’t see an issue – really - we just helped Iran with Nuke capability - we have turned our backs on Israel our only true friend and ally in the Middle East, perhaps the world.

Politics, race, and personal agendas plague the news feeds as do death, murder, shootings - that politicians want to ban weapons - when really we need to ban sin and the appearance of evil in society.  If we would simply follow the Masters lead and love God and our neighbors then we would have none of this.  But God knew as humans we think too highly of ourselves and that is why Jesus had to die for us.  Planned Parenthood is killing innocent babies and politicians want to ban guns, why not ban Planned Parenthood? Hypocrites, wise they profess and they became as fools.

Anyone not seeing what is coming, and where we as a people are headed are blinded by Satan himself.  If you don’t know God and His Son Jesus - you better be praying and seek them!  In the end of all of this – it’s all that can save you from the hell we have permitted here on earth by our excuses, and turning our heads - winking at sin.  At the time of Judgment, you will have no one to blame or stand with you as these atrocities were happening.  Pray for the persecuted Christians here and abroad the entire earth.  Pray for friends and family who don’t know God or have stepped away from Him, and hope they will have a chance to come back.  Pray for yourself, that you will be strong to stand for God!  Be watchful!  Be prayed up!  Be washed in the blood of the Lamb!  Be ready when the last trump of God calls!

Remember - the sin and shame others are getting away with now will not last - for God has the last say.  Just be ready for Jesus!

September 25th, 2015

As we are getting closer to the end of another year in just a few months - we look back at what has happened this year.  The first ever Christian was jailed for her deep belief in God’s word.  Let’s remember Kim Davis never said it was her thoughts or beliefs, but what she learned in Scripture.  Her jailing occurred just months after the Supreme Court of our land said it could not happen - but it did!  And no one stopped it.  Instead her past was brought up - which had no bearing at all on God’s word for the issue.

We saw and heard the Planned Parenthood videos and articles about babies being murdered and slashed apart for profit. And still we the people have our money going to help fund this.  A lot could be said politically on this issue - and we do not bring it up here simply because all that matters is God’s Word on this -- Thou shall not MURDER!  This is murder folks.  Innocent children slaughtered because it can be done.  All the while, people go about their lives like it doesn’t affect them - it does affect us and our nation in God’s eyes.  We are seeing more and more children just killed by parents outside the womb and I wonder how long until this is said to be ok as well.

We have agreed to stand with Iran and against Israel. Well, all that needs to be said on this is - God said He would bless those, who bless Israel and curse the rest.  We see in newspapers and articles online, people in large numbers lashing out at the Christians/half the time it doesn’t even have to do with the articles or subjects.  This is Satan’s way of making it easier and easier for a backlash on the godly by the godless.  Almost half of protestant ministers agree with the current pope’s views on socialism and dogma.  Let me say no one hates Catholics - but as Christians there are variances in doctrine. (The pope never even mentioned abortion, a strong devoted cause to most Catholics for years, at his meetings in Washington DC).  We bow to no man except Jesus. We ask forgiveness to no one except God. This is just a couple for the sake of time - but major differences.  And you must be born again!!  Repent!  These were the words of Jesus and John the Baptist.

Listen as our time on earth grows short I can see the writings on the wall.  A young man asked to be saved after asking questions last night - he said “I don’t want to go to hell.”  God doesn’t want that either, but when we reject Gods laws and rules for us, there is a price.  Time is getting short, it’s in the air; something is changing - evil lurks everywhere - disobedience, hatred, malice, murder, thieving, and not to mention all the people fleeing from religious persecution and some I am sure to infiltrate other countries.

The Bible said all this would take place before the great and terrible day of the Lord!  Be ready, keep watching and listening to all that’s going on around you, and tell me that things aren’t changing and getting wicked.  Pray for your families, churches around the globe, families in Christ all over, and your nation - that the will of God would be done in your country, the world and most importantly - in your life!  It has to start somewhere - let it start with you - that others would see and feel Christ in you and want to have Him as their person Savior!  Lastly pray for an end to abortion, it is nothing more than murder!  Ask our Sovereign God to end it!  Let’s make this something we pray on daily, to see it come to an end.

August 17th, 2015

I am getting a late start this month: There is soooo much going on today!  Politics, wars, violence, social media.  Yesterday our pastor discussed the issue with social media-I’d like to briefly discuss my thoughts and observances.

The world 15 years ago-was nothing like today.  You drive down the road and most likely in a car around you the driver is texting or talking on a phone.  So very dangerous!  Do people really need to talk or text or upload 24 hours a day?  The government has access, good or bad, to all your information.  As well as terrorists, criminals, and psychopaths.  All the information-everyone calling all the time.

However my observation is not that information is bad, it can be good, but as Christians it is all in how we use it, and when.  The videos made and uploaded and sent around the world on Planned Parenthood is an example of using information to get the word out.  What about sexting, taping and not really explaining the truth of the video or text?  How about the inconvenience of it all for those around you?  We humans ALWAYS take something good and make bad out of it.  Always. It is good in case of emergencies to have a phone-there are no more 25 cent machines in public places.  I don’t want to hear about your private or better yet another persons private life in the grocery aisle.

Facebook is wonderful for families and close friends to unite. But does anyone really have over 1200 close friends?  And to my friends, I love you and hope you’re blessed-but I don’t need to know when you go to the bathroom, or see a picture of your nightly dinner, or care about your ideal fabric softener.  I do love to get updates on family and close friends.......... but remember there are those who don’t always have your best interest at heart.

Terrorists use social media to attract naive teens and adults to join killing groups and get money disguised as charities.  Be weary!  Why are parents not monitoring phones and computers?  We have to be responsible parents and Christians- these tools can be used for Gods good, if we will surrender self and do His will.  Blog about Gods good news, facebook scripture, text a good message to friends about Gods love.  But be careful in your own boasting.  God is wanting us to decrease so He can increase!  It is all about Him!

Finally-I have went back and forth myself about social media. FB has become a gossip session and stalking arena.  I see most of my family and friends-there are some who do not live in the area, so FB is nice for that. But for privacy alone-well there is none.  So, maybe post “God Loves YOU” on your next post, and see how many likes you get compared to a political or debatable issue going on today.   God does not like debating-there is really no point!  An unsaved person does not get God-until God gets him!  So pray about it, and then act upon what God tells you.  But be careful, be practical, and remember-when you take pics of your family away from home on vacation-at the time of you posting- you’re inviting trouble.  When you post you hate something you’re opening up room for debate.  When you talk about someone you’re opening up room for anger, quarreling, and backbiting, non of which are of God. So be careful! And don’t text and drive!!!  Remember to be a light to this dying world.  Satan and others would love to take the things we post and twist it to make us look like hypocrites and hurt our personal testimony.

The term justification implies "right standing”.  Justification is a legal term meaning acquittal. God has a standard in which He cannot approve or stand with sin.  Jesus-the second Adam- who came: lived and died a perfect life-unselfishly gave Himself as the perfect sacrifice.  He died without ever committing sin.  This made Him right before God as a perfect lamb for the sacrifice.  The sacrifice was done yearly by the priests to roll back sin for 1 year.  The lamb had to live among the family and be spotless; no blemish.  After a time the head of the family would take the lamb -at Passover-to the priests for sin atonement.  The lamb which the family grew to love and care for died for their sin.  Then Jesus- the perfect lamb- came and died. Once a person truly and fully gives themselves to God - Jesus comes in their heart to make them clean.

Because of the first Adams sin - God removed His presence from him.  Now, when a person has faith in the work of Jesus - He comes into their heart and abides there.  At that point Jesus becomes a mediator-like an attorney for them.  He goes before the Father and makes requests, intercession on needs for that person.  He also, can ask for forgiveness and fellowship.  Because before that point, we as humans deserved nothing from God because of our sin.  But Jesus lets the Father know - that He is there in the middle, stating our case.  He paid the price and continues working in our lives as a union steward, a lawyer, a friend, a confidant, and most important our advocate-speaker, stand in, to the Father for our causes and cases.  He makes us right and to conform to the law of God.  Justification is not what we do, but Christ.  Faith is what is the requirement is for justification- faith in the life, work and death of Jesus.  Nothing we do can earn that for us.

Acts 13:38-39; Romans 1:17; Galatians 2:16; Hebrews 10:38; Romans 3:28; Romans 5:1; Romans 3:26; Romans 3:25; Titus 3:7; Philippians 3:9; Colossians 5:21; Romans 5:16 & Romans 5:18

We did not nothing but have faith in Jesus and all He did and in that faith we have fellowship with God, the Holy Spirit abiding with us, and Jesus our mediator.  When we have true faith we will live as such & it will show in our devotion, our outward love for God and others, and our commitment to do Gods will in our lives.  Jesus will promise to be the connection as we do what Gods will is in our life.

Titus 3:7 ‘So that having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having hope of eternal life.

So, God had rules, knew we could not keep them, gave His only Son to come and die for ALL men, that would believe and have faith, and by that faith escape judgment of Gods wrath and be reunited with God thru Jesus and the work He did.  The law was unable to be kept, so God had a redemption plan - for all mankind. The plan was to send a proxy to take all humans place and all that is needed is faith in Jesus!  And you will be saved from judgment and have communion once again with God!

Staying Strong in God

So do you question God?  Do you know better than God?  Do you know the way today will end-or if tomorrow will come?  We as humans question all the time -without ever really questioning  ourselves in the process.  God only has good planned for you -as the Scripture says.  But we sometimes get in the way.  God gave all the ability to choose.  We choose everyday when we wake up -all kinds of choices.

But, choices do have consequences, all choices do.  Some will be bad, some good, some not even a second thought will be made.  God made you to worship and honor Him.  Faith comes as a way of realizing no matter what the day holds -you know Who holds it.  You know whatever the outcome may be, God has worked it for your good and His glory.  Are you putting your life in His hands?  Are you waking up and going to bed thanking Him and spending the day in between sharing His love with others?  If you live a life understanding the will and path He has made for you - you will be happy.

Too many fall into the trap: You get saved -or have a moment with God and when life's troubles blow in -you stumble and fall. You need to realize that life does have situations that arise -we are in the world -but we don't belong to it.  We must rise above the trial and tribulations -and rely on the Master.  Don't spend all your time asking why me, why not me?  Realize things are going on all around -and to stand strong we must be resolved to know God loves us.  He wants the best for us.  But, the choice is ours -if His hand is not in yours -He is not the one who let go!  If you walk away under pressures or lack of desire- that is on you -Jesus never walks away.

Finally: to question why this happens or that -is to question the ultimate Supreme Designer of the world -we do not question the Maker/we cannot understand His knowledge or His great power, or wisdom.  He only wants the best for His beloved.  If you have given your heart to Jesus & struggle -that's a good thing.  Satan is after you and wants you back.  If you no longer struggle then it is time to worry.  But, through all the trying times -trust Jesus, He will never leave nor forsake you -even to the end of the world!  That is His promise to His children. Are you Gods child?  Stay strong, pray, read your Bible, come to church, and live for God! Never Give Up!

The topic for this month is antisemitism.  Yes, in today's time we still have this and it's rising across Europe and specifically Germany.  The total number of anti-Semitic incidents 'reported' - 1,596 in 2014 and against foreigners 3945.  That is a rise of 25%.  It appears the studies that are being done by a group based in Berlin say many of the abuses occurred when the Israeli -Gaza conflict was going on.  The group Amadeu Antonio Foundation says the threats and possible future threats need to be taken seriously.  Germany is currently consulting with a commission on how to deal with the anti Jewish sentiment.  All Across Europe reports of attacks, bias, and hatred are spreading against Jewish people.  A reporter-simply reporting for a Jewish news cast (she had  a microphone with the emblem)- was harassed and bullied.  The scary and most saddening part is not just those perpetrating this act  but those on the streets and sidewalks watching and taping, without trying to stop it.

There are still large numbers in Europe -mostly youth -who do not believe in the Holocaust- or the history of WW2.  The reporters of theses stats are saying this is a very serious situation.  God says Israel is the apple of His eye.  He would bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse it.  As Christians, once saved by grace, God makes us part of the promise He made so long ago to Abraham. We in fact -in Gods eyes become Jewish.  We should support, pray, and love our Jewish family.  In prophecy we always look to Israel.

Keep track of intolerance; you will see, read, and hear about Israel.  And remember history is bound to repeat itself if we don't understand and change its course.  The Prime Minister of Britain has recently said: "Israel uses its weapons to defend its people and Hamas uses its people to defend its weapons." Cameron has spoken on behalf of Israel  many times -hopefully if needed Britain may have another Churchill.  KEEP an EYE ON ISRAEL and your prayers toward them as well.

The watchman on the wall is going to focus this month on Christians and persecution.  The last several issues of the newsletter have given events of what is happening here in the US and abroad.  A lot has been happening to believers all over the world.  To read in the paper daily of a company being sued because of their religious beliefs is nothing new anymore, however, most people -Christians included - have become numb to this.  Why is it becoming commonplace to hear of this?

We as Christians should pray, and uplift our fellow believers, because one day it will come our way.  Large churches should be out and about helping believers financially and spiritually.  Smaller churches as well should be spreading the word of what is going on and praying for them.  Keeping silent is what started WW2- and allowed it to get to the point of mass destruction all over the earth.  When one sits idle and does nothing that’s as bad as the evil itself, actually…worse.  If you know that evil is around and you do nothing you are actually helping to spread the evil.

We help by getting the truth out, praying, and helping when we can.  All of this is done of course, non-violently.  We do not  stop the oppressors by becoming them - and as they do in their deeds.  When the disciples and others were looking to a kingdom - they were looking at an earthly one to save them - but Jesus came to spiritually heal.  We as believers must first live like believers!  We must walk the walk, and talk the talk. Doing otherwise is fruitless and does more harm than good.

Lift up those being persecuted for their faith, speak up for them, pray for them, and never forget them!  Evil spreads quickly like disease and gossip.  Too many back down in fear and truthfully they don’t really believe.  At some point you have to stand for the truth..... but to you what is your truth?  To me it’s God and His Son Jesus, and I must follow after them no matter the cost.  In the end, the only thing that matters is your soul and those you could help.  Stand firm!  Do not stand for just anything, and live the life Christ expects.  Use the time and ability to do some good.  Examples: pray, read the bible, read the news, talk and share the Gospel, come to church (you become weak if you don’t), help in the church, live the truth.

A good soldier does not lie around all day, never reads the battle plan, never works out, eats all bad things and then goes to war and is successful.  A good soldier is ready, physically and mentally, has read the battle plans, knows the enemies weakness and strengths, has been working out, and lives the way to be prepared for battle.  Are you ready for a battle?  Have you read the enemies plans, know his devices?  Are you a crisis Christian who only comes to God when you need Him?  Only when the calendar says you can?  Only when there is nothing else to do?  Only when you feel up to it?

Well, my friend - the enemy is always ready- and doesn’t ask your permission to attack, he loves it when you are not prepared.  Do not be caught unprepared - always be a soldier ready to battle spiritually.  Be ready to use the armor of God to protect yourself and fight the good fight of faith!  God did not save you or make you to be idle.  Do not become someone He cannot use.  We are here for a purpose - and part of that is to uplift one another - and be ready for the upcoming battle!  The fight is for life and death of the spirit and soul.

March 2nd, 2015

Greetings and best wishes to all of you: The main topic for this month is the state of Israel and the way Jewish peoples all over the world are being treated.  In the news this past week are several articles on the state of Jewish/Israeli affairs throughout the world.  The Prime Minister, B.Netanyahu, has issued a request in past weeks asking for Jews all over the world, mainly Europe, to come back to their homeland.  The increase in violence has increased to these our brothers and sisters in faith.  John McCain has said this is the worst relations has been with Israel and the US.  Netanyau is today at Capitol Hill urging us to not cater to demands by Iran for a nuclear deal.  He called it the worlds foremost sponsor of state terrorism and could threaten the survival for Israel.  When have we ever as a nation or world thought this was a good idea for any of us?

Antisemitism is occurring all over on college campuses.  Those running for positions on student councils are being denied or debated because of their Jewish heritage.  And some are staging demonstrations in favor of pro-Palestinian movements.  Not only are Christians now are being challenged but so are those of the Jewish faith.  A lady in North Dakota has been fined $150.00 dollars for praying and singing too loud. Her husband, a minister at a United Methodist Church, believes she is being singled out.  The police chief says it’s just too loud. (Wonder how many driving cars have been pulled over for loud music; or how many mosques have been cited -where chants are heard?)

Here’s the thing: we should not be surprised. God told us believers were persecuted, always.  Our Lord Himself was, the early followers, and now its happening again.  History repeats itself because we never seem to learn.  In order to be ready: first be saved, truly live for God, believe in His son Jesus - who He was, what He did, and who He is today.  Believe!  Live it!  And know troubled times may come- but God says He will NEVER leave or forsake us!  Keep an eye on the news, on Israel.  Our administration says those killed in the deli in Paris were victims of terrorists- but what they fail to mention  the victims  were also Jewish.  The ones being killed by Isis are Christians.  Folks - there is a plan here.  Pray for our Jewish family, pray for our fellow believers to all have strength.  Pray the nation of Israel comes to know Christ as the Messiah -prophesied about in the Old Testament.  Pray for the eyes of our children and Nation to be opened and know God blesses those who love Israel and curses those who don’t.  Pray our country and world gets back on the right track- and let it start in your heart, your home in your church! God Bless!

I challenge you to look for news on Israel -daily the news has become filled with it.

January 28th, 2015

Well, here we are…into another month already!  There is some interesting and mostly alarming news from Israel.  It appears to new sources that the Obama Administration is sending officials to meet with the opponents of the current Prime Minister B. Netanyahu- as well as Israel’s Arab political parties.  The GOP has invited without the ok from the administration - B. Netanyahu to explain the ramifications if sanctions are not placed on Iran.  And yesterday-(1/27/15)- the bill for sanctions was withdrawn temporarily.  The GOP have decided to withdraw a bill to stop late term abortions deciding this is not a battle they want for the upcoming elections.  They decided the bill would hurt the GOP cause on women.  Jordan and Japan have decided to agree to a prisoner swap with ISIS in order to save two men from death.  A recent study has shown that in Europe 60% of high school students have no idea what the holocaust was.  And that goes for most of all European nations; around 50-60% have no knowledge.  Obama met with the Pastor that’s being held in Iran -his family, and promised to speak on the family’s behalf for releasing the Pastor.  He is being held for opening up orphanages for children in Iran -where he is originally from.  His health has deteriorated over his 2 1/2 years of incarceration.  This meeting was the first of its kind.  The White House has called for the delay in desertion charges against Bergdahl, who left his army troop to join terrorists over five years ago, before being traded back to the Obama Administration.  Several states including Ohio are pushing forward with the 20 week abortion law- (if a fetus can feel the pain no abortion)-a third of all states has past a similar bill if not the one proposed.  The Supreme Court are declining the cases form AZ in which the 9th District Court of Appeals struck down;  GA & ID are ongoing.  And Charles Darwin has been given proclamation honors for his "theory of evolution" in DE at the requests of an atheist.

There is a lot to pray about in our town, our state, our nation, and our world.  But, lets start at home; in our own lives and families, and in our churches.  Let’s welcome Jesus into our whole life, and invite Him in our homes, work, and relationships.  Let’s get to the heart of the matter- we need God, we need Jesus and the Light of the Holy Spirit.  The world can be depressing - but we are over comers if we stay with God!  Most of all, work on family, friends, loved ones, neighbors and coworkers.... time is short.  Keep watch on Israel- if we as a nation let them down, we are in serious disobedience with God and His Word.  Watch the news and don’t be depressed or oppressed, but be made aware of what’s going on around you.  Don’t let it be as a thief in the night caught by surprise- be prepared.  Keep prayed up and strong!  We are soldiers of the cross!  Happy Valentines day- And most of all, let Jesus be in your heart!  He loves you!

January 7th, 2015

Happy New Year!  Well, as we look back at the events that unfolded in 2014- and already those happening this year we a Christians should be looking upwards for our Lord and King!  Israel is fighting terrorists and supposed friends for their lives as a state and as a people.  Texas just these past few days has had a record amount of earthquakes.  Killing and anarchy are everywhere. Isis, terrorists, killers, rapists, baby murderers, murderers of the innocent- daily we hear of murders and suicides. We see nations against nations. We read of parents and children murdering each other.  Countries taking over other countries.  But, the bible said all of this would happen, why are we surprised?  It is sad to see those being used by the enemy-however-we must not give up the fight or become discouraged, there is hope.  In the last year we have had struggles, loss, and subtractions. The loss of a dear sister in Christ-who has received her reward and this day is with Christ!  Struggles within ourselves, we need to hold up our heads and move forward and not let the gates of hell prevail.  We move forward!  We continue to pray, serve the Lord, witness, study the Word, uplift our families in prayer, and our family in Christ.  For those who have left the faith: we pray before its too late they find their way home and we pray we don’t fall victim to the lies of Satan. The other life is not better!  And we need to pray for our loved ones that are not save, by living a godly life in front of them, putting God first always!  In the news we read of a sick young lady who had no hope- who decided it was her choice to end her life-no one told her Jesus was beaten for us and his stripes makes us healed.? This is so sad that she had no hope- we have hope - his name is Jesus.  As we go forward in the new year: keep your eyes and hands in His, never grow weary in well doing, never give up. The world has lost hope and is relying on themselves, we cannot do it alone. God created us to rely on Him.  To do otherwise is silliness and fruitless. The victory is won, this could be the year we rise to see Him in the clouds-or to lay this body down to walk into glory. With all the events going on - be ready!  Don’t get discouraged- if you see a friend, loved one struggling pray for them don’t let that rub off on you.  Jesus is risen! And we will one day, maybe this year, meet Him. Are you ready?  Pray daily- be clean and washed in the blood of the lamb, stay clean in soul and heart- I feel an urgency to proclaim that Jesus is my Lord and I am ready.  This year keep a close eye on Israel, this is where prophecy begins and ends.  Hold tight to the Truth and keep up on the news- this is an exciting time for believers!  But you must keep Jesus close!  The world is pushing Him further away- in schools, businesses, politics, even in churches. Do not fall for this: its part of prophecy.  It’s in the news daily- you must know what’s going on around you so you’re not caught in the snare of Satan.  Stay uplifted, praying with eyes wide open and your heart open to God! Blessing for the New Year!

It's already almost the end of this year!  There have been lots of events that have unfolded in this current one.  But, as Christians we must remain optimistic, and full of good news!  Good news is another word for the Gospel, which is the best news we humans have ever received.  One night in a field some shepard’s were the first to hear of it.  The angels rejoiced above and shared the news that our Savior, the Christ was born.  We need to also be sharing the good news.  Christmas, most know, did not occur in the winter.  We also know - that Jesus asked that we remember the day that He bled and died for our sins.  But, we can rejoice for the event that occurred in a field, the event that changed our current situation.  Christmas began permanently in the USA in 1870.  It was fought by a lot of churches.  We today need to focus and keep the baby Jesus in mind at this time.  Santa is much loved for the gifts he brings, but Jesus is the one who brought the gift of eternal salvation to those who believe.  He came in the flesh to live as a man and never sinned.  He took sin, so we could through Him, be saved from death, and live in heaven.  What a gift!  What Love!  What a story!  And it’s all true. No fairy tales, no little white lies, all truth!  So in reading the news headlines, don’t get discouraged, we have hope because of what Jesus did just over 2,000 years ago.  Learn why the wisemen brought gifts.  It's wonderful - share our love, joy and hope. Keep the news in perspective.... God in His word says terrible and destructive events would happen in the last days. But we have a promise, from a child born in a cave, lived as a man who loved and lived a perfect life to one who was killed and was innocent, and defeated the grave, death, and hell.... now He lives ready to come for his followers who have fought the good fight of faith.  So as a believer, lets keep the CHRIST in christmas - if we're going to say that's why we're celebrating the birth of our Savior!

God Bless

The holiday season is quickly upon us all. The Thanksgiving holiday was set aside as a day of thankfulness. Today, sadly it is mostly thought of as a day to prepare for the Christmas season (shopping) and watching football and committing the crime of gluttony.

This year try and stay with the true intent of the day. FDR changed the date of Thanksgiving to Nov 23, 1939- to add to the shopping days of Christmas. The first date of Thanksgiving goes back to 1621. We all grew up hearing of how the pilgrims used the day to thank the Natives for helping them through winter.  But recently, there have been debates on if these are true and accurate details. But, I think the important thing to remember: this is a day to thank the Lord for all He has done, and will continue to do.  We should be doing this on a daily basis, but for the world, can we for one day use it to be thankful to God, and not to be shopping and getting drunk?

There were actual proclamations from the Congress over this day and how it should be honored. Abe Lincoln issued one proclamation on Oct 3, 1863......these are the basis for our founding fathers and our country, to be grateful and thankful for Our heavenly Father:

"No human counsel hath devised, nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy". ~ Lincoln
"Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and--Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness." ~George Washington

As I write this there have been numerous issues making the news in the last month.  Missouri will be fighting to keep marriage between 1 man and 1 woman.  More and more  lawsuits are being filed in the name of religion and tolerance.  Jesus - did not come to  be a political leader, but a Savior.  The people in his day, his followers thought He had come to set a new kingdom up for the Jews - to run Rome out.  This was contrary to His mission.  We today as Christians must keep our eyes open and on new events, but, we do not get our hopes on one person, political party, or issue.  We should for the cause of Christ be ambassadors to His will; not a political party or ideal.  We live in this world but this is not our home.

But the reason for this blog is to inform so we have an understanding of what is going on around us.

  • A satanist group has now passed out satan coloring books in a large Florida school district.
  • The movement for teaching homosexual health to children in elementary schools is now in effect.
  • And sharia law is being laid out in Oklahoma - amazing the heartland of America!
  • Rock candy is now about to be voted as dangerous and illegal in New Mexico because of the similarity in drugs being sold to children.

The end of times is near - and now with movies and teachings some are arguing if and when. This is nonsense because Jesus says "only the Father in heaven knows the day and hour"  - so lets not try and figure it out, just know Jesus said it and we need to believe it. Doesn't matter when; we just need to know it is going to happen and most important - we need to be ready.  Do not let people or organizations confuse you - it is gonna happen, and even if it doesn't in your lifetime, you are going to die. Are you ready??  Keep your eye on the news, because we need to about our Fathers business and try to take as many with us as possible.

Good places to see interesting articles: Fox news- Todd Starnes, Glenn Beck- faith section.  Listen to John Hagee, Dr David Jeremiah, Tony Evans.  And of course...read your Bible and come to church often so you don't miss important messages from God.

God Bless!

As the world around us turns and continues on.... we as Christians must look to signs the Lord has given to us to see the future. We of course know and acknowledge the Word of God and use it as a guide.  In recent weeks we see the events around the world that affect all. The movement of terrorism and not just death to all who object to terror, but specifically to Christians.  We see the the deaths and fleeing of many of our Brothers & Sisters in the faith that are being killed, simply because they call on the name of Christ.  As a watchman - looking at current events and as one who looks to see if prophetically it is something substantial to us as believers.  Even Franklin Graham who is the founder of the Samaritan Purse and son of Billy Graham-says he sees the events in today's times as the end of the the world.  As believers we should rejoice! But, also we should be about our Fathers business; seeking and saving those which are lost!

In this month pray for those around the world who are dying for the cause of Christ. The persecuted (preacher in Iran ) - who are being imprisoned for their faith, and for those who if not saved when the Lord returns, will need to gain a faith as to not be lost forever.  Watch, Listen, Pray, get Motivated! These are exciting times! -for Christians & dangerous.  If you have Facebook - use it, twitter- use it, your mouth and feet -use them!   We do not want to be caught unprepared, or lazy when our Lord returns!    Keep a  close eye on Israel- who is constantly under attack wtih virtually no outside help, but instead, foul and demeaning cries from other countries. Israel is where all prophecy comes.  Pray for them as well! Blessed are those who praise Israel & cursed are those who cures them.

So, as I end ... think of the ones this moment giving up their homes (fleeing), freedoms (imprisoned), being killed.  Share with friends and family current events, and the bible, while you can!

God Bless & Keep You!  Matthew 24

AN ALERT FOR ALL CHRISTIANS

By Tammy K Keaton

August 8th, 2014

The news of late has been filled with all kinds of news stories focused around Christianity. The Sudanese woman who refused to renounce her faith and was almost killed.  The shocking part was the allegations were made by family.  The Christians who have private businesses who have refused to service certain requests, because of personal values and conviction, have now been forcibly shutdown/or made to adhere to requests.  Even though a restaurant or store can refuse service based on clothing or lack of.  We see daily, Israel being attacked not just by missiles but by countries and leaders for protecting their country and peoples.  A group of lady mall walkers in GA (the Bible Belt) - not allowed to pray in the food court, because it could become offensive to other faiths.  But no one is to be offended by beliefs of these other faiths.  The IRS has been targeting churches/pastors who have been teaching the Word.  Billy Graham and other well known ministers are being singled out and scrutinized.  The government is watching for any church that is preaching on hot topics: gay marriage, abortion - as against the law of man - but certain politicians can visit a congregation and expel on their topics as a visitor. A man was fired from his job as an editor, because on his personal blog he had an opinion on a hot topic.  Prayers are being excluded from public ceremonies as not to offend non-believers.  What about believers rights?

Personal freedoms are slowly being taken away.  You can succumb to the world or rely on God and the Bible.   You will be watched, scrutinized, harassed, belittled, but remember our Lord was the first and His disciples also. If this happens, you're in pretty good company.   Keep yourself in the Bible, with fellow believers, pray.....and committed to God.  He sticks closer than a brother.  Do not be troubled because such things shall happen, before the appearing of the SON of Man!  Hold your head high and look up for your redemption draws near!  Tthe point is this, these things were predicted, they will happen, but don't be discouraged - be of good cheer and know you're not alone.  You're never alone.  Stand for the truth, have a clear conscience between man and God and be a light in a dark place.  In troubling and trying times you can be a witness for God / and help a troubled soul.  Always stick to the Bible and you cannot go wrong!  Even when it seems the world has gone made, you will know where you stand and you will feel His presence.  Move forward - keep looking ahead.  Great and wonderful things lay ahead for the true believers!  Lastly: keep up on events so you are not side blinded on what's going on around you.
